OUTLOOK: With due respect to a handful of other teams that had very good seasons (some of whom beat these two teams), these have been the two best Division II teams all year. Well, almost all year: North Haven got zonked 8-1 in its opener and lost to Farmington Valley on New Year’s Eve, but it hasn’t lost in 22 games since. Wethersfield was also 2-2 in late December but didn’t lose again until mid-February (and one of its losses was to North Haven, 4-1 on Feb. 26). They’ve both got depth like some Division I teams — both had winning records against D-I teams — have defensemen who can chip in at the other end and have goaltenders who’ve led the way. This should be fun.

FORNABAIO’S PICK: North Haven

Raised in Orange and at New Haven Nighthawks games, Fornabaio has been with the Post since 1997. He has covered the AHL since it arrived in town in 2001. He watches too much television, watches too much baseball and hockey, keeps way too many Sound Tigers history files and complains too much about the delay-of-game rule.
